چکیده

Abstract Green roofs have been widely recognized as sustainable nature-based solutions to mitigate floods in urban areas, which, the last decades, are increasing due combination of intense worldwide urbanization and climate change. Besides flood mitigation, green provide additional benefits for environment (e.g., reducing heat island ensuring energy saving underneath building). Moreover, facilitate increase biodiversity, attracting different species small animals, upgrade city aesthetic value. Among types roofs, multilayer blue-green present an layer store water during rainfall events. As part Polder Roof field lab project, prototypes roof developed by Dutch company Metropolder were installed four Italian cities: Cagliari, Palermo, Perugia, Viterbo. The experimental set up described potential this innovative solution discussed. Preliminary analyses, from December 2020 2021, enable estimate runoff reduction thermal properties underlying high solution, which allows retain most events daily temperature variability.

Thermal assessment of extensive green roofs as passive tool for energy savings in buildings

Sustainability trends for buildings require new construction systems to foster energy efficiency and environmentally friendly buildings. Green roofs are interesting construction systems because they provide both aesthetic and environmental benefits. This paper continues a long-term research in order to evaluate and improve the thermal behaviour and sustainability of extensive green roofs. Simul...

Thermal Performance of Extensive Green Roofs in Cold Climates

Green roof is a specialized roofing system that supports vegetation growth on rooftops. This technology is rapidly gaining popularity in North America as a sustainable design option. Green roofs offer multiple benefits to urban areas such as reduction of heating/cooling needs for the building, urban heat island and stormwater runoff for the region. In this study, the performance of two extensiv...
